Having bought my 3D printer I figured it made sense to rebuild the Aliband design into something more attractive and with better performance.

Aside from the changes in the cabinet and passive radiators the design is exactly the same. The passive radiators were bought from eBay and ironically didn't need any modification to get an acceptable tuning frequency. Two passives are used per speaker, one on either side, and they tune to around 60Hz. This ends up giving the speakers decent extension all the way down to 60Hz. Used in the nearfield they are very impressive. Sure they don't go particularly loud but they don't need to.

I designed the cabinets in a CAD program called 123D Design. This is a realtively simple program, and doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the more capable/complicated programs, but for the vast majority of projects it's more than enough. In fact I've only ever needed to use a different program when designing impellers for turbines.

The cabinets were printed out of clear PLA using a 0.4mm nozzle.
